Best Time to Visit Mikumi National Park
Mikumi National Park is accessible year-round, offering diverse wildlife experiences in every season. However, the dry season from late June to October is optimal for:
- Ideal wildlife viewing as animals congregate around water sources.
- Enhanced visibility with less dense vegetation.
- Pleasant weather with moderate temperatures and sunshine.
While the park can be visited all year, the rainy season from March to May may present travel challenges due to wet roads and occasional closures.
Itineraries
Day Trip Safari to Mukumi National Park Detail Itinerary
Your one-day safari begins with an early start, as you’ll be picked up from your hotel or home in Dar es Salaam at 5:00 AM. You’ll then transfer to the SGR train, which departs at 6:00 AM. Enjoy a relaxing journey as the train makes its way to Morogoro, where you will arrive by 7:40 AM.
Upon arrival, you’ll meet your safari guide who will drive you to Mikumi National Park, a picturesque journey taking approximately 2 hours. Once at the park, you’ll check in at the entry gate and make your way to a park restaurant to enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel your adventure.
After breakfast, head out for an unforgettable game drive. You’ll have the opportunity to witness the park’s abundant wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and more.
At midday, take a break for a hot lunch at the restaurant inside the park, savoring both the flavors and the breathtaking surroundings.
With lunch complete, continue your exploration of Mikumi National Park through the afternoon. As the day begins to close, you’ll drive back to Morogoro by 4:00 PM to catch the evening train departing at 7:25 PM.
You’ll arrive back in Dar es Salaam around 9:10 PM, where your driver will be waiting to take you to your agreed drop-off point, marking the end of a memorable safari adventure.
