Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere (Selous) National Park

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Dar es Salaam, setting off on a scenic 4-to-5-hour drive to the legendary Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous). Upon arrival, check into your lodge or camp to unwind, refresh, and soak in the surroundings. As the afternoon heat fades, you will head out for a magical sunset boat safari along the Rufiji River. Drift past pods of hippos and crocodiles while spotting vibrant water birds, experiencing the tranquil beauty of this thriving river ecosystem before returning to your lodge for a relaxing overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive at Nyerere (Selous)

Your day begins at dawn with a prime wildlife-viewing game drive, the best time to spot lions, elephants, leopards, and wild dogs in action. After a midday break for lunch and relaxation at the lodge, you will head back out for an afternoon expedition through Nyerere’s shifting landscapes, from lush wetlands to expansive woodlands. Cap off the day with an optional night game drive to track nocturnal species under the stars, or simply unwind at your camp for another comfortable overnight stay.

Day 3:Transfer & Walking Safari to Mikumi National Park

Depart early from Selous for a 4-to-5-hour scenic drive to Mikumi National Park. After checking into your lodge, swap the safari vehicle for a thrilling afternoon walking safari. Led by a trained guide, this foot expedition brings you face-to-face with the park’s finer details, from wildlife tracks and vibrant birdlife to unique vegetation. End your afternoon by unwinding at your camp, taking in a serene sunset over the horizon, and settling in for a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 4: Full Day Game Drive at Mikumi National Park

Set out at sunrise for a comprehensive, full-day game drive across Mikumi’s most productive wildlife zones, including the Mkata Floodplain, Hippo Pools, and Mtema Hill. After a midday break for a picnic lunch inside the park, the afternoon itinerary guides you through diverse ecosystems to maximize your wildlife encounters with lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and impalas. Conclude the day’s adventure by choosing between a thrilling optional night safari for nocturnal sightings or a relaxed evening at your lodge before your overnight stay.

Day 5: Visit Maasai Community & Return to Dar es Salaam

Immerse yourself in local heritage with an early morning excursion to a Maasai community bordering Mikumi, where you will gain firsthand insight into their iconic cultural practices, ancestral traditions, and daily routines. Afterward, embark on a relaxed return journey to Dar es Salaam, navigating the 4-to-5-hour route at a comfortable pace. Take advantage of optional stops at roadside craft markets and panoramic viewpoints to capture final photos and treasures before arriving in Dar es Salaam this evening, where your safari officially concludes.
