4-Day Kilwa Heritage Tour: The Three Kilwas & Swahili Coast
Explore the Ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani: A UNESCO World Heritage Site
4 day kilwa cultural heritage tour Step back in time to the 9th century and discover the remains of the Great Swahili Empire. Our 4-day tour explores the three distinct areas of Kilwa: Kilwa Kivinje (the historic Omani/German port), Kilwa Masoko (the modern hub with beautiful beaches), and the crown jewel, Kilwa Kisiwani.
As a UNESCO World Heritage site, Kilwa Kisiwani is home to the Great Mosque and the Husuni Kubwa Palace. This tour is a must for history enthusiasts, archaeologists, and travelers looking to experience the authentic culture of the Swahili Coast.
4 Day kilwa cultural heritage tour
This tour to Kilwa is one of our relaxation safaris along the southern Coast. There are three Kilwa’s, each with a lot of history from the ninth century A.D. Today they are quiet and remote, but in the past, they were the location of a powerful and prosperous settlement ruled by independent African Sultanates. Visit this ancient East African Port, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
