Just returned as guests using Kanuth Safari providing a marvelous experience in Nyerere Game Reserve. We were met at Dar Es Salaam by owner who personally drove us to our hotel in thr city and this was extra special treat for us after flying 18 hours from the U.S. After a good nights rest, early a.m. the next morning we were met by our personal guide, driver Paul who expertly drove the scenic 4 hours to the Selous Lodge. The trip there gave us the opportunity to see the lush green mountainous Tanzanian countryside passing several small villages where the school kids all happily wave at the passing Safari vehicles. We stopped at an actual Maasai Village where we were able to meet the tribal members, see an actual classroom, and even participate in a traditional Maasai dance! The people are warm and friendly and we even purchased some of the traditional handmade beaded jewelry. Upon arrival to the beautiful Selous Lodge, we were welcomed by the friendly staff and our accommodations were very nice hut with clean comfortable beds, and nice shower conveniences. There is a large dining area overlooking a beautiful pool and well cared for lawns. Each day we enjoyed delicious hot meals prepared by an expert chef and served with an assortment of baked breads, fresh squeezed juices, and juicy fresh ripe fruits. Our Safari tracker/guide Paul took us out each day in a comfortable pop -up viewing top vehicle for animal spotting and we got safe closeups with elephants, giraffes, baboons, crocs, exotic birds and more. He was very knowledgeable about wildlife behavior, species, and habitat. We even did a river cruise and walking safari in the brush. The Selous staff were most caring & thoughtful and took extra good care to be sure we had plenty of bottled water and good eats for our guided tours. At the end of our stay at the lodge our personal driver guide Paul drove us back to Dar Es Salam and we were very impressed with his safe and expert driving ability.
I highly recommend Kanuth for all safari package arrangements because the cost was reasonable and we look forward to visiting Tanzania again in the near future. The people are passive, peaceful, friendly and very welcoming to visitors. Unlike some areas in Africa, there’s NO harassment or aggressive hounding of tourists thankfully.
Be sure to make Kanuth your choice of Safari providers.
