Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Pick up from the agreed point in Arusha and depart with your picnic lunch for an evening game drive in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park covered an area of 2,600 sq. km and was established in 1970. The park has numerous baobab trees that will primarily catch your attention. The Park derived its name from the Tarangire River that rises in the highlands of Central Tanzania and winds its way through the game sanctuary. The river beguilingly lures the herds of plains migrants from the desiccated surrounding area to its shrunken – but permanent – brackish waters during the dry season. The animals come by thousands from as far north as the shores of Lake Natron to the bank of this river, significantly swelling the resident population with wildebeest, zebra, eland, elephant, hartebeest, buffalo, and fringe-eared Oryx. During the dry season, the Tarangire pools are clotted with thirsty migrants, and the elephants begin to dig for underground streams in the dry riverbed. Tarangire National Park is said to have the highest recorded number of breeding bird species for any habitat in the world.

The park also offers a spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley, and the fig forest here is a good place to see monkeys and some of the 350 species of birds that have been recorded here. With luck, you may spot the tree-climbing lions for which the park is famous.
You will also do the Treetop Walkway. This 370m airwalk starts with a short boardwalk that gradually rises from ground level up through the forest’s canopy. You walk over a series of suspension bridges with thick netting on the sides and reach a height of 18m off the ground. Each of the bridges ends on a viewing deck situated around tree trunks.
These treetop platforms are perfect places to stop and enjoy life in the canopy amongst butterflies, monkeys, and birds. Evening drive to Mto wa Mbu Village for a cultural tourism program. Here you will have a chance to experience the real-life of local tribes which live in this area by visiting their banana and rice plantations, Primary schools, Orphanage, Local Market, Carvings, and families.

Some 9 meters high and 100 meters long in its curve. This is an impressive and fascinating experience that occurs throughout the year and something to see if you have a chance to visit the Ngorongoro. You proceed to central Serengeti. This river gushes north of Serengeti from Kenya’s adjacent Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The area around the lake is dry and desolate.
The strangely beautiful landscape is the attraction in this area. After a strenuous walk up the stream, we reach the river’s source in the cascading waterfalls that gush out of the mountains. It is an excellent swim in the river and under the waterfalls for a nice cool-down from the hot sun.
There may be baboons or other wildlife in the gorge. You will have an early dinner and go to sleep. At midnight we will wake up and transfer to the mountain where you will ascend Ol Doinyo Lengai, 2878m (9650ft), in the heart of Maasai country and locally regarded as a sacred mountain.
