Our safari package NC19 follows the great migration.
Day 1:Arusha Town – Tarangire National Park
We will pick you up at the agreed point in Arusha (hotel, airport, etc.) and depart to Tarangire National Park in time for a sunset game drive. Tarangire National Park covers an area of 2,600 sq. km and was established in 1970. The park has numerous baobab trees that will primarily catch your attention. The Park derived its name from the Tarangire River, which rises in the highlands of Central Tanzania, and winds its way through the game sanctuary. The river beguilingly lures the herds of plains migrants from the desiccated surrounding area to its shrunken – but permanent – brackish waters during the dry season. The animals come by thousands from as far north as the shores of Lake Natron to the bank of this river, significantly swelling the resident population with wildebeest, zebra, eland, elephant, hartebeest, buffalo, and fringe-eared Oryx. During the dry season, the Tarangire pools are clotted with thirsty migrants, and the elephants begin to dig for underground streams in the dry riverbed. Tarangire National Park is said to have the highest recorded number of breeding bird species for any habitat in the world.
Day 2:Day 2:: Tarangire National Park – Serengeti Nationa Park
After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park with an en-route game drive. Picnic lunch and an afternoon short game drive in Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is arguably the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world. In the endless plains of the Serengeti, you have an excellent chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade.
Day 3:Full day Game drive at Serengeti Park
Breakfast at your accommodation, then leave for a full day in Serengeti, the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. You head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. You arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.
Day 4:Serengeti Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Authority Area
Early morning game drives around the Seronera area. Come back for breakfast at your lodge. Then leave with packed lunch for a game en route. Expect to see many games while driving to the Ngorongoro Conservation area authority at the crater’s rim. Arrive there in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5:Ngorongoro Crater tour – Lake Eyasi
After breakfast, leave your accommodation with packed lunch for a full-day game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Shortly after entering the area, you can view a spectacular panorama of this beautiful caldera. Ngorongoro Crater is home to black rhinos, cheetahs, lions, leopards, elephants, zebra, and birds like ostrich, vultures, and flamingos. You might even see hyenas or jackals hunting flamingos on the crater soda lake.Your lunch will be served on the picnic site at Ngoitokitok Swamp, a Hippo pool. After lunch, we continue with the afternoon game drive. Ascend from the crater and drive Lake Eyasi area for dinner and overnight.
Day 6:Hadzabe and Datoga Culture Tour – Arusha
Before breakfast, you will be woken by your local guide, ready for a hunting safari with Hadzabe. The Hadzabe are the last of the hunter-gatherer tribes in Tanzania. You can observe their daily lives and even join the men in hunting. You will be searching for an animal to hunt using local weapons. (Remember, this isn’t inside the national parks but outside the parks). You will be back for breakfast and the preparation of a barbeque. If you are interested, you can share the meal with the Hadzabe who inhabit the region. You will also visit the Datoga tribe. Here you will see and learn how they make a Blacksmith. After lunch, we drive back to the agreed drop-off point in Arusha, where the tour will end.
